Class Descriptions: All Classes Conclude with a Concert in Winter and Spring to showcase everything students have learned in 2019-2020!

Pre-Twinkle  + Beginning Violin:  Pre-Twinkle starts in Pre-K (ages 3-4) and Beginning Violin starts in kindergarten.  Students in Pre-Twinkle will begin with a box-violin and lots of singing games to help students with position, new rhythms, and ear training to get ready for their graduation to a real instrument in the Winter/Spring.  Students in Pre-Twinkle will work on the same concepts as in Beginning Violin, however, at a more age-appropriate pace.

Beginning Violin starts in Kindergarten.  Classes are based on a Suzuki approach, which focuses on ear training, technique, parent involvement.  We introduce repertoire that incorporates games, singing, and movement activities to help students acclimate to their instrument. Students will learn at least 10 songs by the end of the year.

DANCE:  Dance Curriculum at Darwin for the 2019-2020 school year will be broken up into 3 units:  Hip Hop CReative Movement, Ballet Foundations, and Partner Dance. Pre Ballet provides young dancers an introductory class in the French terms and movements of a ballet dancer. Students will learn the distinct positions of the feet and movement of the arms based upon traditional ballet technique. Posture and balance teach young dancers the build blocks of ballet while providing a fun challenge for new learners.  Beginning Hip Hop class offers young dancers an introduction of the technique and rhythm of hip hop training. Dancers will begin each class with a guided warm up to help strengthen their bodies and increase flexibility. Hip Hop I guides students through a series of foundational skills that set dancers up for more advanced learning in the future. Young dancers will learn to slide, bounce and roll developing an understanding of musical timing and dynamics in their body.  Latin Partner Dance focuses on learning steps of Salsa, Bachata, cha-cha, merengue, mambo, and more.  Students will learn to collaborate with classmates and learn lead + follow technique.

Why learn from Music House?

We teach music in a similar way that one might learn a language: through immersion. Our research based and data-driven curriculum helps students to excel not only in music but in other academic subjects since they are getting practice and reinforcement in communication skills. Listening, respect and sensitivity towards an instrument, mimicking, improvising, positive reinforcement, pride in achievements, goal-oriented discipline, and expectation of parent support are all pillars of our curriculum that help a student to excel with music and beyond! Music House instructors believe in making learning fun and engaging through educational games that motivate young musicians! We also believe every child can learn and we work hard to make sure every child does learn. Most importantly, Music House prioritizes the safety of your child at all times. We are passionate about our curriculum! Want to know more? Email us or give us a call!
