Announcing New Dance Classes!

Written by Shawn Lent, Music House Manager of Dance Education

Did you know that Music House now offers Musical Theater Dance classes for youth as well as a drop-in weekly class for adults? Have you been looking for a dance class for a child with Autism or learning and developmental disabilities (LDDs)? Are you curious about an Afrobeats class?

As Music House’s new Manager of Dance Education, I am excited to announce that several new dance classes have been added to the schedule, all designed with our communities in mind. With National Dance Day and the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop, now is a great time to try a new class. Remember that current students receive a 25% discount when you enroll in additional dance classes!

New Dance Classes at the West Rogers Park Studio

Neurodiverse Jazz/Tap Combo on Sundays 1:30pm - This new class is designed to be inclusive of elementary-age dancers with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), as well as other neurobehavioral conditions such as ADHD or learning and developmental disabilities (LDDs), but also their peers and allies.

Musical Theater Dance (youth) on Tuesdays 6:00pm - In this class, students strengthen their foundational understanding of musical theater dance, while working to advance their learning of musical theater history and style. Dancers learn a weekly combination, including original Broadway choreography!

Musical Theater Dance (adult) on Tuesdays 2:00pm - Calling all actors, dancers, movers and artists! Want to go to a dance class but are worried that it's been too long, or you don't know what level you fall in, or not sure of your time commitment? This is the weekly drop-in class for you.

New Dance Classes at the Humboldt Park Studio

Hip Hop & Afro Beats on Tuesdays 7:00pm - Afro Beats Dance is a unique fusion of traditional and modern-day African-derived movements. Dancers learn popular Afrobeat moves and classic West African steps in addition to Hip Hop Dance.

Intermediate Ballet on Thursdays 7:00pm - New to our Humboldt Park studio, an Intermediate Level class has now opened for students who have passed Beginning Ballet. Congratulations, dancers!

In addition to these new classes, popular favorites such as Pre-Ballet, Beginning Tap, and Hip Hop continue at both studios. Help us celebrate National Dance Day by spreading the word about these dance classes!

Music House is a home for multicultural experiences, with classes designed to be welcoming of students of all religious communities, backgrounds, gender expressions, levels of training, goals, and abilities. The studio has a long history of age-appropriate class content, costuming, and performances (with modest options for culturally conservative dancers).

Music House is a special place to grow as a dancer because we honor the dancers' individuality. This isn't a cookie-cutter program where students get lost in a competitive system. Our in-person dance classes feature small class sizes, strong community, and challenging curriculum in a positive, low-stress environment. If you can’t find what you’re looking for in a dance class, Music House can often find a tailored solution.
