Suzuki Group Classes

About Suzuki Group Classes

Music House offers weekly group violin classes that focus on the Suzuki violin repertoire. Suzuki Group Classes are a key component of the Suzuki Method! Group learning is not only more fun for students, but also can be much more motivating than individual lessons alone. In group classes, students reinforce the skills they've learned in private lessons, while also learning new skills required for ensemble playing.

Dr. Suzuki said “A child does not learn the native tongue only by daily one-to-one training but smoothly and rapidly learns it through talking with others” (Where Love Is Deep). Just like learning a language, music is better learned when immersed in a community of other music-makers!

Students who participate in Suzuki Group classes will also have additional performance opportunities throughout the year!

Suzuki Violin Class Levels

  • Parent attendance required.

This class is just as important for the parent as it is for the child! Violin students at their early stages of learning require hands-on attention in order to develop healthy playing technique. We will teach you (the At-Home-Teacher) how to help your child practice at home the correct way.

The focus of Foundations is to set an excellent playing position from the start, so students can have an easier and more enjoyable learning experience!

Free to all Outreach and Private Lesson violin students from very beginner through Twinkle.

  • Parent attendance recommended.

Students who are working on any piece between Lightly Row and Perpetual Motion are invited to attend! In this class, students will reenforce foundational skills such as a relaxed playing position and bow hold, and will further develop their ear by singing future songs and playing ear training games.

Free to Private Lesson and Outreach Students.

  • Students who are working on any song between Allegretto and Gavotte are invited to attend!

In the Book 1 Graduation Track class, students prepare for Book 1 Graduation by reviewing and polishing earlier pieces, and by reinforcing foundational skills.

Students must be enrolled in the Suzuki Violin Book 1 class in order to participate in a Suzuki Graduation.

  • Students who are working on any song in Book 2 are invited to attend!

In the Violin Book 2 class, students learn Tonalization, Ear Training, and Note Reading, while also reviewing and polishing Book 2 pieces.

Students must be enrolled in the Suzuki Violin Book 2 class in order to participate in a Suzuki Graduation.

  • Students working on Suzuki Book 4 or above are invited to attend!

In Advanced Violin Ensemble, students work on elevating Suzuki repertoire, as well as learning chamber pieces, fiddle tunes, jazz solos, and other non-Suzuki rep!
