Introducing… ABT at Music House!

Music House is proud to include the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training Curriculum (ABT NTC), a breakthrough 9 level program that combines high quality artistic training with the basics of dancer health and child development. ABT NTC consists of a comprehensive set of age-appropriate, outcome-based guidelines to provide the highest quality ballet training to dance students of all ages and skill levels. Pre-Primary through Level 3 will be taught by ABT® Certified Teacher, Kathleen Alvarado, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 3 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.

Students enrolled in this newly introduced dance track receive a comprehensive education that combines the foundation of ballet principles with the integration of various training methodologies, including elements from the French, Italian, and Russian schools of ballet training. This curriculum trains students to become versatile dancers in their ballet technique that will help develop their artistic skills as a performer.

As a part of the track, students will be invited to participate by their instructor in the yearly ABT NTC Student Examination. These examinations have proven to greatly benefit students by offering a comprehensive assessment of their skills, boosting their confidence, and enhancing their training.

One of the key advantages of ABT NTC  Student Examinations is that they serve as an effective skill assessment. By participating in these examinations, students are able to document their progress and showcase their growth over time. Each student receives an individual rubric that outlines their technical and artistic proficiency. This rubric provides valuable feedback from the Examiner, helping students identify areas for improvement and assisting them in further honing their skills.

ABT NTC Student Examinations also play a significant role in building students' confidence. By successfully completing these examinations, students feel a sense of accomplishment and validation for their hard work and dedication. This achievement not only boosts their self-esteem but also motivates them to continue striving for excellence in their training.

When participating students successfully pass each level exam, they are rewarded with an official ABT National Training Curriculum Certificate. This certificate serves as documentation of their accomplishment and lists the level of the examination. It also specifies the level of distinction the dancer achieved. This recognition not only celebrates their efforts but also highlights their commitment to their craft.

It is worth noting that the ABT NTC and Student Examinations provide a structured framework for dancers to assess their progress and set goals for themselves. This framework helps students remain focused and dedicated to their training, as they have clear milestones to work towards.

We are thrilled to present a new track that holds potential to inspire students, whether you are an experienced dancer or just starting this exhilarating journey, this track will provide an opportunity to unleash your creativity and embrace your art form.
